When a brand-new baby arrives, the entire family is excited, and it’s so much fun when I get to include everyone in professional newborn photos they can treasure for years to come! For baby Mia’s very first photo session, in addition to a very proud mom and dad, grandma and grandpa were also in town and were more than happy to participate in this memory-making moment. It was so much fun to work with everyone and feel their excitement and all the love that surrounds this tiny little one!
Dressed in neutral pastels with mom and sweet Mia in creamy off-white, everyone coordinates perfectly for a lovely generational portrait that will be a beautiful and timeless addition to any room of their home.
SWEET SNUGGLES WITH MOM
Little Mia rests comfortably swaddled in mom Megan’s arms in this precious photo. Swaddled in a textured and lacy wrap and wearing a delicate headband with three tiny roses, Mia sleeps soundly and basks in the love of her mom’s loving arms. Megan’s closed eyes and beatific expression lend a tender, sentimental feeling to this portrait that will forever help this family remember those first early days of baby bliss.
THREE GENERATIONS OF LOVELY LADIES
Is there anything more beautiful than three generations—grandma, mom, and newborn baby girl—standing together for a generational portrait? No way! These three strong women represent their family’s past, present, and future, and together, they are creating a story that can be shared for generations to come!
I love mom and grandma’s matching smiles and how much they look alike, and it’s easy to see that tiny Mia with her dark hair will likely inherit many of their beautiful traits as well.
It’s always such a blessing when families are able to include grandparents in their photo sessions. Just think of the memories you’ll create for your children as they grow when you invite grandma and grandpa to be in their baby portraits. One day, they’ll look back at their professional photos, and they’ll be thrilled to see their grandparents holding them and posing alongside them when they were newborns. And grandparents will love being included in such a meaningful moment in your growing family’s life.
THERE IS THIS GIRL WHO STOLE MY HEART…
Already wrapped firmly around Mia’s tiny (and adorable!) little finger, her daddy gazes lovingly down at her as he holds her safely in his strong and loving arms. She may be tiny right now, but before long, there will be daddy-daughter dances, trips to the mall, and (gasp!) make-up! And that’s why portraits like this one are even more important. As your precious little one grows, you’ll always be able to look back to those very first days and weeks and look at the portraits that remind you of all those sweet baby smells and expressions that first made you fall in love.
BUILDING A FAMILY FULL OF LOVE
I love this photo—it might be my favorite one of this sweet family! I think it’s because it shows all the love and joy on mom and dad’s faces as they hold their new baby girl, and it’s also just so fresh and sweet. Plus, with its neutral colors, it can be displayed as a gorgeous art portrait in any room of their house to remind them of the love that fills their hearts and home.
NEW BABY BLISS
I love capturing this tranquil moment between mom and newborn baby as they both relax, eyes closed and cheek-to-cheek on a soft and comfy surface. Mom looks absolutely beautiful dressed in a flowy off-white dress as she snuggles baby Mia close for a tender, loving moment in front of the camera. And sweet Mia is as adorable as ever swaddled snuggly in a pretty textured wrap and wearing a delicate floral headband for a bit of feminine flair.
With mom’s hair spread out behind them in weightless waves, this pretty portrait takes on an ethereal feel and would be a beautiful choice to display in their home or to give as a gift to close family members.
SOUND ASLEEP WITH THE SOFTEST BUNNY EARS
Get ready for cute overload! Just when you thought she couldn’t get more adorable, precious Mia lays snug as can be in a tiny brass baby bed, swaddled in a fancy, textured wrap. A chunky pink crochet blanket is tucked lightly over her toes, and she’s wearing the softest knit cap with adorable floppy bunny ears to complete the look.
It’s super cute how the little cap accentuates her little baby cheeks and shows off a tuft of dark brown hair—and take a peek at that sweet button nose, too! With wide plank flooring in the background, there’s a rustic feel to this portrait that makes it perfect to add to any modern farmhouse décor.
PRETTIEST LITTLE FLOWER
Mom and dad are so very proud of their brand-new baby daughter, and they were excited to help plan a professional photo session that included all things feminine and floral, bright and airy. They had previously visited the Andrea Sollenberger Photography website and loved the styled and ideas they found there! So we put our heads together to come up with several props and outfit ideas that would be perfect for their family and for displaying in their home!
In the following photo, baby Mia dreams the day away in the center of a floral wreath full of giant blooms of peach, cream, and cornflower blue. She’s resting on the softest plush pillow, and in this photo, it’s easy to see the fine detail of her textured swaddle wrap. Wearing a delicate lace headband to accent her full head of dark hair, there’s no doubt about it…sweet Mia is the prettiest flower in the garden!
ALL TUCKED IN FOR THE PERFECT NAP
Snoozing babies are just about the cutest thing ever…and that’s a good thing, because I see a LOT of sleepyheads in my studio! Newborn portraits are usually done when baby is around 10 days to 3 weeks old to allow us to capture as many of their brand-new baby features and mannerisms as possible. But that also means that baby will likely sleep through most of the session. After all, newborns usually sleep around 14-17 hours per day, so while we may get a photo or two with eyes wide open, parents should expect several completely adorable sleeping poses.
In the photo below, Mia is the perfect little model! Sleeping soundly through her session, she looks like a lovely sleeping princess. She’s swaddled snuggly and wears a long lacy cap and is toasty warm as she lays under a chunky pink crochet blanket.

DREAMING THE DAY AWAY
Oh the dreams this little one will dream! With her tiny hands tucked under her cheek and her knees tucked up to her tummy, tiny Mia sleeps all curled up and in her birthday suit. This is one of those shots that parents always want and always look back on fondly with smiles—right before they place it in their child’s senior memory book! But don’t worry, tastefully done, in this birthday suit photo, Mia’s tiny bottom is covered tastefully with an off-white wrap so that just her tiny toes and tummy show!
Content to dream the dreams of babes, this sweet girl didn’t make a peep as she snuggled in for a cozy nap in my warm and inviting studio.
It was such an honor and a joy to work with this family and be a small part of helping them welcome their new baby girl to the world. I’m so happy to be able to provide them with a professional portrait package they will be able to look back on for years to come and enjoy as Mia grows and changes through the years.
